John Daly’s wine tops class and takes gold medal at Wine World of Sports awards, LA - Thursday, 19 June 2008
John ‘The Lion’ Daly’s flagship wine, The Perfect Round, has won a gold medal and best of class in
the red blends category at the inaugural Wine World of Sports competition at the LA International
Wine & Spirits Awards.
Pitted against prestigious contenders from top producing regions, The Perfect Round made the top
ten list of sporting celebrity wines, having won one of only four best of class awards.
John Daly Wines President/CEO Colin Weinstein said, “It’s an absolute honour to appear on such a
distinguished list; especially given the short length of time since the launch of the John Daly brand.
Next year we plan to enter our additional four wines in the single-cultivar categories for Shiraz,
Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.”
The Perfect Round is a limited release Bordeaux-style blend that was launched at the start of the
year, along with the Fairway Range and the Lion’s Range; value for money wines that reflect John’s
down-to-earth approach. Only 3,000 bottles of The Perfect Round are available for sale, each
individually numbered and attractively wrapped.
The Wine World of Sports competition made its first appearance this year at the 69th Los Angeles
International Wine & Spirits Awards. Although attracting a modest entry of 38 wines, the calibre of
the entries was high, as evidenced by the number of top awards. In addition to the four best of
class, gold medal awards, a further six wines won gold, and a seventh the best wine of
competition.
Only wines produced on behalf of sporting celebrities may be entered into the Wine World of
Sports awards. Golf, racing and hockey were represented this year.
The Lion’s wines now available for sale at John Daly Wines website.
In news just announced, all three ranges of John Daly Wines can be bought at John Daly Wines
online, www.johndalywines.com. Delivery is available to 19 US states including Alaska, Arizona,
California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska,
Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Wisconsin
and Wyoming. Illinois and Florida will soon be added to the list.
